Will the next Star Trek film be loyal to established Star Trek canon?

Will the upcoming Star Trek movie be loyal to established star Trek canon, or will it 'rewrite' Star Trek history? I've read some blogs suggesting Kirk will go straight from Starfleet to serving on the Enterprise. Are they going to totally mess up Star Trek history? What about Capt Robert April?
